TOTAL WAR SAGA: TROY explores the “truth behind the myth” of Homer’s account of the Trojan War. As game writer, this has offered me unique and exciting challenges, such as composing alternate “what ifs” in the style of the Iliad, or doing deep dive research into Late Bronze Age warfare and society.
This new installment in the Total War franchise is set for release in 2020.
NEED FOR SPEED PAYBACK is the latest installment in the AAA action-driving franchise developed by Ghost Games. Set in the fictional city of Fortune Valley, Need For Speed Payback tells the story of Ty, Mac and Jess as they go toe-to-toe with a crime syndicate known as the House.
I worked closely with the narrative director to create the world, story and characters of Payback. While the game is not a critical success (the game lost a lot of goodwill because of the use of loot boxes, which in turn impacted the perception of the story), I’m proud of the hard work we accomplished in challenging circumstances.

EON ALTAR is a revolutionary co-op role-playing game for 1-4 players that brings the fun and party atmosphere of classic tabletop RPGs to the digital era. Players control their individual character through their own mobile device, and share a central PC or Mac as a tactical display.
Eon Altar is an ambitious game, and this includes its narrative design. The world of Eon Altar is extremely rich, with a fictional history dating back thousands of years. Each character is complex and multi-layered, and the story is filled with a tapestry of gods and mortals dealing with the impending doom of their world.
MONKEY KING ESCAPE is a running game in the style of Subway Surfers, set for release on Android and iOS. Designed and developed by Ubisoft’s Chengdu studio, it features the Monkey King from China’s Journey to the West.
I was brought on board this project to write the in-game content such as character descriptions and achievement text. I also wrote the app store descriptions and press release. This project was a welcome opportunity for me to work with Ubisoft colleagues in China after nearly eight years.
Monkey King Escape will be released later this year.
CELESTIALS: ETERNIAN CHRONICLE is an AOS-style mobile game from Korean studio Noobyisland. It features an ambitious background story, told through quirky, engaging cutscenes. Working for the creative director, I wrote everything from backstory to individual dialogues and character descriptions. I wrote all text in English, which Noobyisland later translated to Korean.
The game received overwhelmingly positive feedback upon release in Korea, and was the #1 downloaded game in Korea during its first week of release.
