Welcome to One Blue Pixel!
My name is Daniel Roy, and I am a freelance video game narrative writer and copywriter.
I’m an expert in narrative design and game writing, including story, background, dialogues and in-game text. From 2003 to 2009, I was a producer of AAA games for Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai and EA BioWare. My published games include Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 2.
I know game development inside and out.
Based on my experience as a producer for AAA games, I know that game developers play a balancing act with art, gameplay, and story. I always work within the constraints of your game production. That means no schedule-wrecking feature requests, no unreasonable story ambitions. I know what it is to manage a game development cycle, and I’m here to help. I’ll take what space you give me, and exceed your expectations within it.
I’m a professional writer.
Writing is my full-time job. In addition to writing games, I also do any one of the following:
- Copywriting & Copy Editing
- Screenwriting (animation and traditional)
- Fiction Writing
- Web Copywriting & SEO
- French-English Translation
- Marketing and Ad Copy
I’m a location-independent professional.
In 2009, I left my senior producer position with EA BioWare to roam the world. Originally from Montreal, Canada, I’ve visited thirty-seven countries and lived in nine. My freelance career allows me to combine my twin passions for world travel and video game development, and my clients span five continents. I’m currently based in Seoul, South Korea.
Whether you’re creating your own mobile game alone in the comfort of your garage, or you’re leading a AAA, multi-million-dollar production, I can help make your story shine and add that “wow” missing from your narrative design.
